The Careers in Entertainment Tour gives young people from underserved backgrounds an interactive, fun, and useful guide to working in the entertainment industry.

On the tour, you’ll hear from experienced industry professionals that make film and television happen. You’ll gain insight about what it takes to build a career in entertainment, network with mentors from the industry and peers in your area with similar goals, and meet entertainment companies looking for new, fresh perspectives. CIE will help you close the gap between your reality and your dreams of working in entertainment.

Founded by the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation, the CIE experience creates access, introduces opportunity, and promotes inclusion for high school and college-aged youth who want to work in entertainment. CIE works from within the industry, leveraging our network of entertainment leaders to serve as guides. In support of President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative, CIE collaborates with city officials and local high schools, universities, and programs to find young people like you, who are interested in pursuing careers in entertainment.

Discovery Teams With Jada Pinkett Smith on Say Yes to the Prom, Youth Outreach Programs

Jada Pinkett Smith remembers well the crossroads she faced during her rough-and-tumble high school years in Baltimore. Had she not discovered her passion for acting, Smith believes her path to adulthood might easily have included a stint in jail or worse. Smith’s memory of that pivotal period drove her to launch the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation’s Careers in Entertainment program designed to open doors for youths in underserved communities. The foundation has partnered with Discovery Communications’ Say Yes to the Prom initiative to provide scholarships, internships, mentoring services and networking opportunities to students in several major cities across the country.
